When you are registered with the NDSS, you have access to support programs and services, as well as subsidies for diabetes-related products such as needles and syringes. The centre provides care, education and support for people with diabetes and their carers as well as community education to schools, health facilities. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare is a major national agency. Tuvalu suffers from diabetes. Insulin helps convert sugar into the fuel our bodies need. Without insulin, sugar builds up in our bloodstream in life-threatening amounts.
