High risk work licence course

What is a high risk work licence course? Can I apply for work safety work licence? What are the different types of high risk work? How long does it take to get a high risk work licence?


A high risk work licence is required for certain types of work. This includes, scaffolding, dogging and rigging and operating cranes, hoists, reach stackers, forklifts and pressure equipment.

Complete training as per the relevant unit of competency. This will include classroom theory and practical training. Your first interaction with the RTO or assessor should not be on the day of your assessment. You should be provided face-to-face training although some revision may be undertaken independently. Book in a theory and practical assessment with your RTO. Bookings for assessments need to be made at least three business days in advance and conducted by an accredited assessor. You should not discuss with other participants or view a copy of the test prior to sitting it.


The assessor should be present at all times during the assessment period. Successful applicants will receive an assessment summary (AS1) from the accredited assessor and a statement of attainment from the RTO. RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces. Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations list the work that requires a high risk work Licence. This also involves using cranes, forklifts, reach stackers, boilers and boom-type elevating work platforms. The EWP Training Course is run at our Northern Perth Training Facility in Neerabup.


The licence is recognised Australia-wide (older style tickets and certificates of competency are no longer valid). To obtain a licence to perform high risk work or add a new class to your existing licence , you must undertake the appropriate training. You will need to be trained by a Registered Training Organisation and assessed by a WorkSafe Registered Assessor.
