How do I become a JP? Once that’s done, submit a formal application for the position and wait to be approved by a committee. A Justice of the Peace is classified as a judicial officer under Chapter III of the Massachusetts Constitution.

The Chair will probably ask you to submit a letter outlining your reasons for becoming a JP and your qualifications.
