This poem was read with my permission recently at a celebration of organ donation. Know that I am grateful for the life you gave to me.
May my life give you light wherever you may be. And may my life bring comfort from the pain that hurts you so: we are strangers now a family, wherever we may go. But organ donation is one of the most heroic thing to do and if you can donate your organs, you’re going to be living not just one but two lives – including the life. And life is not worth dying once you have someone to live for. Give organs so others can live.

Another happy recipient and awesome donor! Whenever I get a chance, I try to talk about that. It’s easy to make a buck. In the long run, organ donation saves lives. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.
Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something. One donor can save or heal. One organ donor can save eight lives. That difficult journey ended with new hope and a new heart beating in my chest.
